Presents don't really mean much to me. I don't want to sound mawkish, but - it was the realisation that I have a great many people in my life who really love me, and who i really love - Gabriel Byrne.
God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well - Voltaire.
Well, happy 17th birthday to me! Decided to share with you guys these 2 really meaningful quotes that I came across. I can totally relate to the first quote. As I grow up, (not sure whether many of you feel the same way) I start to feel like I don't really need presents. Sure it will be fun to receive presents especially when you tear open the wrappers and find something pleasant. But now, I really just want cards for my birthdays/any other celebrations. I find pure joy reading heartfelt handwritten cards from friends, better still if it's handmade with love! Hehe. Presents are materialistic, cards also, but there is a difference. Presents you can use them but they will definitely wear off someday, it can be a soft toy but truthfully, will you even display it or just chuck it aside? That's why cards are awesome and are the best, because you can always store them with all your other pretty cards and next time when you're older you can still take them out and slowly read through, remembering the good old days...
Nonetheless, I love presents and I sure love surprises! Today, J sneakily brought me a present. That guy told me he had to meet his friend at AMK Hub and it was around the same time as me, so I thought we could meet but yeah in the end I left earlier, thinking he was still meeting his friend. Apparently, when I was already downstairs my block, sneaky boy was hiding somewhere looking at me.. Well I actually had just came home from grocery shopping and I was just unloading all my goods then suddenly I had a call coming from the house phone, and J was just frantically asking me to look outside my house... I knew something was going on, I thought he had brought like our friends or something for real (because it sounded kinda noisy) then when I went out of my house, I saw this cute balloon floating at the stairs! I was utterly surprised by it! Tried to find him but he was gone. My parents then made me call him, insisting that he come back wherever he is to cut cake lol! But he didn't... Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise and I was really happy!
It was a quiet birthday this year, mostly due to the annoying haze resulting in us not being able to go out and breathe normally... But I still really am thankful that my whole family was home today! We had simple meals together and had my pretty toy story birthday cake! It's the cutest cake out of all my birthdays thus far and I absolutely love it!
I just wanna thank God for His provision toward me the past 17 years. Poor children in other countries suffer everyday, some die a few days after their birth and it's just really sad how they are so less fortunate. And here we are, here I am, sort of taking life for granted. Well, thank You Jesus for giving me lovely parents who have supported me financially and emotionally since young. My parents are really the best parents I can ever get and yes I love you Daddy and Mummy <3 thank you to my sister also even though I always quarrel with her, she still looks up to me as her crazy sister lol and got me this really nice gift! Thank You Jesus for giving me J, because he has been by my side all the time supporting me through my ups and downs and just being my #1! And yeah, for all my friends who have dealt with my insanity, I salute you guys hah! But most importantly I thank You Jesus for saving me, for redeeming me, and for making me a child of Yours. I'm truly beloved and wonderful in Your eyes. Thanks Daddy God up there! Here's to 17 years of living for Christ and to many more years ahead! WOOHOO!
