What better way to end the internship at The Coliseum again and even better, with ECHOSMITH! This has got to be the ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT of my internship and I'm super happy it ended with them, a pop band I can resonate in some ways with!

So let's start from the very beginning where I received a text on National Day from my CS asking me to get a parasol for Sydney because she forgot to bring hers/lost it somewhere along the way. Like erm hello, what on earth is a parasol?? You think it's some kind of medicine but nope, it's actually an umbrella, like those Japanese kind and so with a worried heart (of not finding the umbrella before fetching them from the airport), I headed to Chinatown to search for one and thankfully, I managed to find one! It was a really pretty colour, one of my favourites haha.. So when we picked them up from the airport, their dad was so nice, he asked Sydney to come out first to talk to the fans who had arrived at the airport to welcome them! The ride from the airport to the hotel was pretty cool too, I ended up sitting right at the front with Sydney and her mom and it just dawned upon me at that moment, how cool family bands are! Sure, you get frustrated with each other at times but other than that, you travel the world with the people who mean the world to you! And yay, I got compliment on my watch :) haha! And Sydney liked the Singapore temporary tattoo I had and I offered to pass one set to her too! They kept testing me on my NE knowledge though.. Had dinner with them at Sentosa and I learnt that Sydney has a whole lot of food allergies, like she can't take dairy/milk products! And at the end of the dinney her tummy became really bloated she even asked me to poke it to feel just how hard it became hahah! Love how she played the 'questions' game with us dring dinner and it was nice how she made the whole atmosphere a whole lot less awkward! Then we headed to Gardens By The Bay after that to watch some light show, cool beanzzz~

Tuesday was just so exhausting.. Spent the morning at Topshop for the 987fm and Class95 shopping spree. The family just kept shopping and shopping and my arms ached from carrying all the clothes! Sat with Graham on the steps and we had a really long talk about food! Hahahaha, don't ask me why we sat on the steps, we just did. It was a great time talking to him, it was just like talking to another friend and thankfully there weren't any awkward feelings.. Like we literally spent over an hour talking about food from Topshop all the way to the hotel haha! Even my colleagues were super surprised how I managed to hold a conversation with him for that long! I love how being part of the crew gave me access to the band and how I managed to talk to them 'openly' in a sense! But at the same time, I understood the importance of keeping a distance and giving them space as well :) Promos went right after lunch and it was pretty busy since everything was back-to-back! I was in charge of the media ticketing booth that night and oh my goodness some people really have ridiculous requests even though they aren't part of the media.. Sadly, didn't manage to catch David's set, but I'm really really happy I got to hang out with Joe + ZW & J8! Thankfully, I could find them amidst the crowd, especially ZW + Joe who stood right smack in the middle. And since ZW is so tall, it's easy to spot him, and I also got him to help me take videos hehehe :-) Stayed over at Hard Rock that night and yay we ordered room service again!

Sent Echosmith off at the airport on Wednesday and I'm glad we got to have a short chat at the airport about toilets HAHAHA! Noah and Joshua kept talking about how weird the toilets were in other countries and they just couldn't understand squat toilets and hoses LOL! Really thankful and grateful I managed to grab a photo with the band, as my CS knew I didn't manage to get a picture with them during M&G! Then their dad was like, oh sure she can get a picture she's cherylsocool (I lent him my hotspot and forgot to change my hotspot name to something more formal) she is cool, then I awkwardly laughed HAHAHA! Well all in all, I would say Echosmith is the BEST EVENT out of my entire internship! I guess because they are teenagers too, so it was easier to understand them. Example, I talked to Sydney briefly about studying and she knows my age! (because she was really curious why I looked so young and I was already working.)

It was a very good experience going for all those promos + interviews and I will definitely miss going for all these! Not to mention going for all those concerts hehehe ;) Who knows, maybe next time when I come out to work I'll come back to the music industry! For now, let me just enjoy my Echosmith experience though it has been a few weeks! (I'm sorry this has been super late, haven't had time to blog about a lot of things...)

so yes you are most welcomed sydney :-)
Gardens By The Bay is really pretty at night!
Graham and I on the steps lol! I love all his hats ;)
best pest!!!
managed to get the whole J8 down for the night!
SSC first concert together hahahah :-)
more than blessed to have been part of Echosmith: Live In Singapore! <3
Oh my goodness, it's already August?! Time is passing by too quickly! Can't believe my internship is also coming to an end already, just about 2 weeks more to go! Having loads of mixed feelings about it..

So what can I say about July? It went awesome! Decided to escape reality and head to USS with Nat one Sunday after church and it was super fun! Honestly speaking, I thought I would be a little awkward with him because it was just the both of us, but it turned out otherwise! Thanks to Joe and Aunty Poh Suan's express passes, we took all the highlights of USS! So how it works is that at the gantry, you have to show your pass to enter and if you have an express/student pass, it has your face on it. Obviously the faces weren't our faces since they weren't our passes.. So I got through but Nat got stopped at the gantry because it wasn't his face on the pass HAHAHA and he still said it was his face when it was Joe's. Well all in all, we were total ninjas that day using the express passes to take the rides hehe :-) Poor Nat though was always getting caught, example: putting his lanyard in his pocket when he had to put it at the side while taking the roller coaster, or being scanned and caught for bringing his phone up the roller coaster when we were not supposed to but I managed to get through.. Really thankful for that day, because it was a time where we could have a really good HTHT and talk about random nonsense too haha!

I guess the highlight of my internship would be meeting Michael Learns To Rock! :-) Those 4 days of being a part of their entourage and working with them are still so fresh in my mind! So before picking the band up from the departure hall, I had breakfast with Joan at the airport and some random traveller started talking to me. He was a backpacker and he was travelling around and he just got me really excited for my travels in September! (Need to think of a hashtag for my own vacations..)

Welcomed the band and it was really exciting to see them! Mikkel was so well-dressed, I noticed him and I was just blown away, like who dresses so well for a flight? He wore some suit with his shades and scarf which made him look like x100 cool! Kare was really cute too, he wore some Adidas windbreaker lol.. So after dropping them off at the hotel, we went back to the office to get some stuff then headed back to the hotel (lol lame I know). Had dinner with the band and because it was in 2 private rooms, we had to split up (my colleagues and I) and my CS gave me the choice of sitting in whichever room I preferred to so I just sat with the band since she was seated with them. Kare and Mikkel had a short chat with me, we talked mainly about music and they asked what instrument I could play. I told them I wanted a jam session because it's something really fun and relaxing! Then they told me that if I really want to pursue music or just jam, I can't be afraid and I have to just go out and perform. Can't really remember what they said exactly but it was something along those lines! It was really memorable because they gave me that small advice! :)

Thursday was great too! Had a whole day of promo and Joan and I made friends with Freya, a waitress from Mitzo restaurant since we were all situated outside the restaurant waiting for guests/customers haha.. The promos went well and we headed to Mediacorp for radio interviews and The 5 Show! Jascha asked me to help carry his guitar so you could say that was an honour LOL! I ended up carrying his bag too at The 5 Show! The band looked like they had loads of fun at the Nanyang Coffee House eating their toast, it was a pretty hilarious sight too!

Concert Day was so hectic and stressful, well I can't complain much because I'm sure my CS and other senior colleague had much more to do.. We had to ensure their dressing rooms were properly set up and 'equipped' with drinks and snacks. The merch booth was pretty insane too, there were so many customers! Had a chance to sit in the soundcheck for a short while and it was cool, the whole Star Theatre was empty apart from the crew and us, and the view of the stage was just breathtaking! I must say the show was awesome, managed to catch only a couple of songs but better than nothing! At the end of the night, we managed to get a few group shots with the band as well as the Tour Manager (hahaha he is like the best TM ever, really nice guy!!!) and Anders the bassist!

Sent them off on Saturday morning. When Mikkel was about to leave, we jokingly said we are actually going along with them to Vietnam and I think he believed us.. Then when he was going into the departure hall, he turned and asked why we weren't going and we told him we were just joking and he looked a little disappointed haha! All in all, it was a really good experience! :) But I must say that he is the friendliest artiste! He just smiles at you all the time when you look at him and he even ran to the fans to give them hugs! Kare is also really goofy~ Jascha is just Jascha haha! The 3 of them make such a funny trio! Absolutely no regrets working late into the night and waking up early because it was definitely a very fulfilling event! Old is gold~~~

 work work work
really love this photo, all of them look so happy!
and lol, I was supposed to help the DJ Mike take photos but when Mikkel saw me taking photos he smiled instead HAHAHA
ok 3 grown men using a selfie stick and singing, cute or nah?
HIGHLIGHT HIGHLIGHT HIGHLIGHT!!!
TM Jonas, I really really like him! :)
MLTR: 25 Live was definitely a huge success! Here's to the Warner family for working hard! :)

PS, this was meant to go up like about a month+ ago hahahaha oops!

Hello! It's my birthday weekend! As I grow older (I think I've mentioned this last year hahaha), it just feels like there isn't a need to have big celebrations or whatever parties, as long as I love my company.

Met up with the best pest on Wednesday to have dinner and can I just say, she is really the best friend I'll treasure for the rest of my life. I'm still super thankful we got to be in the same class in upper sec, and somehow we just clicked together! I don't have to say much and I don't have to over-explain stuff and she'll understand how I'm feeling. We just had a simple catch-up session and it was just a time of pouring out our feelings and just sharing with each other. Thank God for such a sister!
Had late dinner with Joe on Thursday and it went alright. I think even after everything that has happened, he'll be someone I really trust no matter what and I feel comfortable just telling him everything and crying and being a total wreck. And obviously I did just that... But thanks for celebrating my birthday together and forcing me to let you get that tiramisu just so you could REALLY celebrate it.
So moving on, what happened was that I was just sharing my thoughts with him and he kept insisting he wanted to send me home when usually, he would rather hang out longer since we had the chance to and I was pretty upset because I didn't wanna head home that soon. And on the way back home, my dad texted me asking if I was on the way home it was almost 11 and I had work tomorrow, and it just got me angry because hello, I'm with Joe I'm safe and all.. When we reached my block, Joe kept insisting to walk me to the door then he said he wanted to go in and took off his shoes so I was like "why do you want to come in, just go lah" because I just really wanted to go and sleep and most probably feel like a total mess and cry myself to sleep. So he came in, and I was just slowly unpacking my stuff and Joe just stood outside the kitchen when suddenly the monthly affair group popped out of somewhere and started singing 'HPBD' and I just teared because I wasn't expecting it. So it was all pre-planned and I was just surprised! Apparently Joe brought it up to them in April like what, 2 months before my birthday? But it is touching to know they took the effort to celebrate and come late at night since they were all going away the next day. All in all, kudos to you Joe because I got fooled this time by you and my whole family were totally in on it too and they were so SO secretive about it, sneaky people...
Saturday was just awesome! Met with Geena early in the morning to book our basic theory test, like FINALLY! First step to learning how to drive: CHECKED. We headed to Fresh Fruits Lab after that, and I absolutely love that cafe! The ambience is great, and it's not too big and the crowd is pretty alright, so it's not too cramp too! The deco is amazing and really pretty, and they gave us some complimentary fruit juices which came in test tubes and our water came in beakers! Too cute! Pretty decent 'cafe-prices' too so it was a really good first-time there!
So she mentioned she had to head to Nex to get some stuff for her portfolio and I was heading there too so ok! When we arrived, she wanted to go to Cotton On and so we did so. If you know the layout at Nex, Cotton On is right beside Uniqlo. After C.O., we headed to the second level and suddenly she said "Oh let's go to Uniqlo, I wanna look at jeans." Like what, we just came from there! So of course we went to Uniqlo and we were just looking around when suddenly Jamie popped up from behind! I learnt that Geena is horrible at dragging time from that incident hahaha, but thank you pl girls for the sweet surprise! They gave me a HUGE sunflower which I think could be a walking stick for primary school kids haha! So we just chilled for a short while and I really enjoyed their thoughtfulness :-)
Spent my afternoon planning for Mercy's next event and had a really great 1-1 time withy my DGL Lai haha! Thanks for the yummy blackforest cake! :) Had dinner with my family and the twins' parents, we finally tried Mookata! Thanks Mummy and Daddy for the birthday treat and I couldn't ask for a better way to end the night with such awesome company with people who I know will always genuinely care and watch out for me! :)
PS, the following was the best surprise to end off the birthday weekend.
Usual Sunday matters. Went to church with the family and was on duty. It feels really good committing each piano duty to God before I start and I hope to keep up with it even with each waking day! :) Played with Rebekah at creche, and I'm sorry David if I don't seem to like playing with you, Rebekah is really cute hahaha! Then there was message. So usually after message I'll just head down for breakfast, I don't listen to the announcements unless there's some event or something special happening and my parents were like "sit down and listen to announcements" when they usually just let me go. Thinking they were just weird, I just went ahead and went down but I went to the hall below to listen to the announcements, and there was nothing special -.- Got my breakfast and talked to ZW when suddenly Jasmine said she had a present for me. I thought it was the cake that Nat got for me and they were gonna give it to me then, but she was like nope it's something else.

So thinking there was some cake and present waiting in the classroom, I just proceeded it but when my sister opened the classroom door, HIPSTERS STARTED SINGING HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND THEY WERE JUST SITTING THERE WAITING FOR ME!!! Like what!??!?!?! I couldn't believe they were there like in my church and I was speechless for a few minutes and I think my mind just blanked out hahaha! It was just the best way to end the birthday weekend and in the card they gave me, they gave me a tree bark and said it's from a tree in Cambodia (oh did I mention their nickname for me is a tree in Cambodia called Chambak?)... Chilled with them and it was a really nice catch-up :) Apologies to the worship team though for bailing, I didn't know how to just ditch them when they came all the way! Headed for lunch with them too and can I just say how much I miss their company? :') Apparently, they contacted the twins to ask for my mom's number and my whole family has been so pokerfaced the entire weekend, even when I told them how Hipsters didn't wish me (small matter) but annoying XJ & Boon kept asking me questions on Twitter.. Kudos to them for this awesome and well-planned surprise! I really really love them x100000!!
Headed to Lai's house after lunch for a short baking session and her house is really pretty! Very minimalist yet cosy! She and Benny really "inspire" me to find someone who really loves you and puts your interests above anyone else! Sometimes in church during service, I see Lai putting her hand on Benny's shoulder and he just holds her hand for a while. Like hello, this is so simple yet so cute?! Oh, and forgot to mention, thanks games comm + Lisa + Ben for the Awfully Chocolate!!! (Had to pretend I didn't know about it on Sunday because on Saturday Jasmine and Lisa actually gave it to me but I told them to pass me on Sunday together with Nat hahah!)
All in all, my weekend was simply fantastic! Not over the top and it was just filled with all my close friends and family! Thank You Jesus for loving me everyday and watching me and keeping me safe everyday. You've helped me get through all my tough times and You never give up on me so all glory to Him! :) Thank You for giving me family and friends who love me and accept me for my crazy self or even my crappy self when I'm a whole mess. 19 years old, time to make some goals for myself till I turn 20 next year (ew gross??) and make some decisions for the future (ew gross again??). Happy birthday to me yay!

Sunday, 14 June 2015

Good evening~~~ Shall try to keep up with at least a monthly update and I hope I'm keeping to my word haha!

Today, I kinda just broke down in church. Somehow, it felt like many things were falling apart. I've been feeling so rejected by my friends, not intentionally but in a sense, when we arrange to meet up, suddenly they can't seem to make it. My closest friends are travelling away on my birthday and I'm sure they feel bad, I hope they do, but yeah it's just disappointing and saddening to know how I won't be seeing them on my special day. At work, things haven't been going that well either. I've been making careless mistakes, resulting in reprimands and countless reminders to buck up. It's not that I'm deliberately making mistakes but sometimes I really have no clue. My artworks are always being rejected because they aren't good enough or it isn't what my colleague has in mind. My close friend is going through friendship problems and when I try to find out what's going on he doesn't say much and just pushes me away, at least that's what I'm feeling so it's becoming a friendship problem for me. Like what the heck, there's rejection EVERYWHERE. I know my God won't reject me and He's always going to be there for me and I can always pray knowing He hears me and He knows what I am going through, but the situation I'm in just seems otherwise. I guess the work and all the relationship problems I have with my friends just accumulated and I don't really have someone to share my difficulties with on a daily basis so it just all came out. Really really thankful for my leader because he's always so patient in listening to me rant and cry my heart out and he gives the soundest advice and comfort.

If you're reading this, please pray for me, that I'll remember that I am worthy in the eyes of Jesus, and that He knows my desire and my difficulties. Pray that I'll find comfort through my trials, and take heart that things will work out in the end. Hope I always remember that my internship is determined by my own works, not by what my colleagues talk about me and as long as I do my best, I will be alright, and that I won't dread work each day because it just seems very dreary nowadays. Pray for my friendships, that I will have friends who can encourage me and not just always have fun, but to give me spiritual encouragement too.

Oh well, it hasn't been easy but today I had the word 'endurance' on my mind. In the Bible, there are many verses on endurance and I find them very comforting because it talks about how through all the hardships, it is for the greater glory of God. Will share more another time! :)

managed to catch Boon's play with the gang in May! so proud of him and his passion for drama! :-)

Sunday, 10 May 2015

Hello! So many things have been going on with me the past few weeks and April was definitely a great month thus far!

My DGL got married WOOHOOO! Every week during Bible study, she would update us the progress of her wedding planning, how her house hunting was going along and even asked us how we felt about wedding dresses! It felt exciting to be part of her planning team though we were just a little tiny bit of it haha! But it was awesome being part of the worship team again, I mean come on, we should just be made the official church worship wedding team hahaha! The whole wedding was a simple one and I'm really glad to have witnessed their marriage! During dinner, YFers occupied 2 tables #yfrepresent haha! Thank goodness the guys and girls were separated (even outside of Bible Study hahaha! no just kidding there's a reason..) because Lai knew that the guys would take all the food and wipe them clean and the girls wouldn't be able to eat much hahah! So thank you Lai and Benny for that decision hahah! And the guys made so much noise??? They kept asking us for food so we ended up giving them all the food we couldn't finish lol. Okie picture time!
So April was also the twins' birthday! They've finally reached the big 2-0! Can't believe it, I've known them for 10+ years and they used to be the boys who sat behind me doing primary school homework or reading novels during service! It's amazing how our friendship has grown so much over the years and I'm super happy to have been part of their life and watched them grow and mature over time :-) I may just be a close friend of theirs, but to me they are really the older brothers I'll never have - always taking care of me and having our monthly brunches together (we need to revive it hahah) and being my listening ears (i've got 2 pairs yay~~) and now, sending me home after events!

It was really fun planning their birthday, with the monthly affair group and church camp games comm too! So thankful I offered to do up their card, because I couldn't be more proud of it - it has pictures of all of our close friends and I love it lah even though they aren't my birthday cards haha! Had the annual YAH dinner and we decided to re-take a photo we took like a few years ago and wow horrors of horrors, Thank you for everything, really love the both of you so much!!
us in 2011
us in 2015
thx u joe for llaox2 treat, hope you were pleasantly surprised
that night with both our families patronizing your shop.
ur parents are really proud of u working hard and i am too :-)
seriously joe u rock cos u give loads of llao

Had a chance to meet up with Hipsters like a month after internship started! It was so so good to finally meet up with school people and see familiar faces that I miss dearly :( Had SMU pasta, obviously... And I miss them so so much! It was awesome just chilling at the same place we've been chilling since Y1~~ Headed over to Somerset after that for some Llao Llao and time just seemed to pass by so quickly, it's like after talking and talking so much 3h just went by! But it was a really good time catching up with them and well doing stupid things with them hah! So excited to meet them again this Thursday! Boon's having his 2nd show and we couldn't be more proud of him! :-)
So now that I'm on internship, it's been super enriching! When people ask me how's work, I tell them it's been good and I'm learning a lot. To some people, that seems like the politically correct answer. But excuse me, who are you to tell me if that is politically correct or not? I sincerely and honestly mean it when I say I've been learning heap loads!

It's an eye-opener to see how the media works in the real world and I've improved my designing which I'm super thankful to God for! Was really afraid of designing when I first started because the previous intern was a design-machine, his designs were beyond my capability and I felt like I sucked so badly initially. But hey, different people different strengths right :-) And well, there are perks being in this line, you get to meet celebrities! Really looking forward to the rest of internship, and maybe also a little of going back to school just for my friends haha!
Had the chance to meet Charli XCX and she's really very laidback and totally chill...
It's hilarious how she doesn't seem to care much about her hair whether it is
messy or not (like me because I really can't be bothered to comb my hair sometimes)
and did you know she has Indian-blood in her? I never knew!
Love her clothes too, really simple and unlike her usual revealing clothes...
yes everyone, this is the one & only Rick Astley!
extremely down-to-earth, humorous and independent too!
i've been singing his songs since PL days especially with James
& we would remix his song 'never gonna give you up'~
thank u company for lunch, 1st time trying vegan burg yum :-)

The Script came again this year for their 'No Sound Without Silence' tour and can I just say they never fail to amaze the crowd? The previous time when I went for their concert, it was only about 1.5h but this time round, they sang for 2 full hours!!! They came late though, the whole concert started only at about 9.30pm because of some technical difficulty and it ended at 11.30pm but the entire time, the crowd seemed to forget about the band's unintentionally-late appearance and we just sang our hearts out to all the songs!

Their entrance for the concert was just MINDBLOWING too because some pathway was created at the moshpit and Danny walked through that path with a trail of people holding green flags with LED lights on them... Seriously... They had a small stage set up at the back so to the middle section, you had a good view of them YOU LUCKY PEOPLE. And then Danny decided to run through the right section of the hall with his gopro and all the audience got chances to take photos with him... Just FYI, I was sitting on the left side of the hall and he didn't even come close to us at any point. UNFAIR I SAY, UNFAIR!!! Next time, I'm going to buy moshpit tickets and queue from the morning hahaha.. It was so nice to hear everyone sing along to the songs~~ Well I was screaming the lyrics to almost every song... They sang all their classics like 'Breakeven', 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' and I didn't know they almost cancelled their classic act of calling someone's ex over the phone and singing 'Nothing'! So they did that again this year and wow, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I would love to show you videos of all their songs (because I filmed QUITE A NUMBER of them hehe) but unfortunately I can't so here are some photos to make up for it! :-)
Thank God for the chance to meet up with family over the long weekend last week too! It was grandaunty's birthday so we had dinner with them and I played with my favourite cousins (or more like 2/3 of my cousins who are way younger than me hahaha) and they are so adorable! Evan is just the happiest baby ever who smiles at everyone and his smile can melt a frozen heart ok, he is one loud baby and he loves taking photos, selfies in particular haha! Denzel is just a kid who has 100% energy all the time and once he starts talking, he can't seem to stop hah! I think I'm going to stayover at Denzel's place next week since my aunt's house is so near my workplace and it'll be fun to play with him :-)
Okie, that's all for the month of April! Finally ending up this post and I'm really thankful for how God has guided me through work thus far. It's been rather tiring at times and it can be emotionally draining because of the criticisms I get sometimes because of my work standards but I'm glad I'm working on it and I hope my colleagues do see an improvement! But really thank You Jesus for watching over me and blessing me with a good internship - one that I enjoy despite all the design work and one that allows me to listen to music at work!!! Thank God for the support I've been getting from church friends and how my friends have been praying for me too :-) May has begun duh, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be an exciting month ahead! (Boyzone is in a few weeks time!) Bye!
this made me feel like winter came to singapore so yes
this is my selfie to end off this post heehee xxx
